about
This piece is a bit of several ideas in one. The theme of "five" is meant to be present throughout, both in the time signature and in musical subjects. From beginning to end there are five guitar solo sections. My attempt was to cover a range of mindsets and moods in each one of these.
- Introduction: I wanted to both quote the main melody and set the stage for things to come.
- First "real" solo: Things are kept fairly low-key here. A calm before the storm of sorts.
- Second solo: My favorite of the bunch, this one gives way to more intensity.
- Third solo: Since this portion of the song is the most intense I wanted to reflect that in the solo. Lots of notes and doodads.
- Outro: Originally, I was planning a final elaborate solo but I realized that I had covered most of that during the middle portion of the piece. I decided to just have a quick send-off to give resolution.
Seattle’s Laden captures the storm and stress of the greatest, grimmest post-metal, crafting songs from 20-megaton riffs. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 29, 2022
